HISTORY

Elf's landscaping began as Elf's Lawn Care in the summer of 1981. At that time, owner Lennie Foss, bought a commercial lawn mower and put an add in the paper to mow lawns to help pay for his new piece of equipment. What originally started as a side business, working out of his house in East Rochester, while working another full time job has blossomed and grown into what you see today.

In 1985, Lennie officially made Elf's his full time work and changed the name to Elf's Lawn Care Inc. Then in 1990, when Elf's was actually doing more than just lawn mowing, the name changed to Elf's Landscaping Inc.

In 1991, the business moved to 296 Walnut St., and in the summer of 1992 he opened a small seasonal garden center business at this location. Over the course of 5 years, the garden center became a year round business and added a flower and gift shop named, A Fountain of Flowers, within the garden center. We carry unique evergreens, and hundreds of perennials. We have become famous for our award winning geraniums and mums. We sell produce grown in our own gardens in the summer and have tomatoes all winter, grown in our greenhouse. We are a member of Teleflora.

We next entered another aspect of the outdoor business as Night Rain Irrigation. We design, install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. We work mostly with Rainbird and Hunter irrigation products but can also work with others if needed. Our irrigation services cover all of New Hampshire, Southern Maine and North Eastern Massachusetts. We will service systems installed by other companies.

We decided that it was time to once again spread out, to better serve our customers, so we moved our main office to 299 Walnut St. Our main operations originate there while our Garden Center continues to grow at 296 Walnut St. As you can see in our pictures, we have done extensive landscape changes.

In the year of 2006, we have once again ventured into new territory with the addition of "Elf Paca Meadows,"our Alpaca farm. We currently have ten beautiful alpacas with 5 crias (babies) due in 2007. Elf's Landscaping, Inc/ Night Rain Irrigation provide residential and commercial design and construction, grounds maintenance, irrigation installation, maintenance and repair, snow and ice removal and a full service garden center with florists. Today we have both 2-D and 3-D designs!
